Planning The idea we're using going forward comes following a discussion of our favourite aspects from our individual Week 3 prototypes. We concluded that we wanted to pursue a bright and natural theme. The leaf pattern from Chinmayee and the tree shape and form were taken from Sooa. Together they form a functional and beautiful product. Idea sketch 1 (from Sooa) Idea sketch 2 (from Sooa)     Sooa and Soraya marked the graphic onto styrene before it was cut.   Chinmayee and Soraya demonstrate that we partially assembled a 1:1 prototype.      Sooa uses the heat gun to bend the styrene to create facets to connect the model. 1:1 Physical Prototype Flower Camera has a magnet. There is a magnet behind the camera that can be attached to the desired tree branch. The yellow part is the Camera lens. The petals will then be made of paper. Materials Plastic + Paper    First low-fidelity Prototype From Individual Ideation Sketches All 4 of us ideated on three different ideas and then prototyped one with the most potential. Our work is described below.  Sooa Initial Sketch: Sooa's initial sketches  Prototypes: Sooa's prototype I have created low-fidelity prototypes three times this week. At first, I tried a prototype of a tree sketch and thought of a form of inserting a branch into the main wooden body. However, the ingredients that I had and the idea I wanted to make did not go well together, so a very low-quality model was made. After that, a second model was created based on UFO sketches. In the case of UFOs, unlike sketches, they tried to make the beam part that supports the base of the device feel like a drill using styrene. However, the size of the UFO body was relatively large compared to the legs supported, making it difficult to balance. So, It was difficult to express what I wanted. Soo...

After completing our material exploration, we collaborated to create a user persona for our webcam. Arielle is a SIAT student who's constantly in online meetings and strives for a webcam that's simple and elegant. Because she's also creative, she wants a camera that can inspire her too. Persona: After we had created our persona, each of us went to work ideating different webcams for her. Each of us independently sketched three unique concepts. We had fun getting to use the   Materials Plastic + Paper Sooa: The first sketch is UFO webcam, which has a base made out of plastic (which can be colourful and strong). The saucer would be made of paper due to light weight . For the second sketch, the webcam lives within a bud which can be placed on different branches in the tree to adjust height and placement. While we're getting started on our final project we'd like to share the progress we've made so far.    On our team we have Sooa Mo, Soraya Elchehimi, Bowie Rheault, and Chinmayee Kusnur. You can learn more about our roles on our team page .   Initial Sketches   The webcam has fixed legs that would sit over your monitor or laptop screen. On the legs would be a velcro pad. The velcro would latch onto another piece of velcro attached to onto your display. It could either stick on the rear or the top, depending on your display.   The exterior of the camera would be made out of paper allowing the user to customize the aesthetics of the camera to their heart's desire.   Other Explorations   We explored the possibility of having a plastic bird which featured an integrated paper wing which could cover the camera.   With the alien webcam we explored with unique forms and uses of materials.
